The folks at Vinyl Masterpiece are hot on the one yet again with their latest release. There are some real must have gems on here from the soulful side of the 80s dance scene. A lot of it strays too much into Electro for my liking, and I fear I hated it at the time and hate it more now! LOL.

Wanda is a new name to me. She is, in fact, the sister-in-law of one Narada Michael Walden who is executive producer of this 12” along with Randy Jackson. This track, released on Elektra in 1982 is in-demand and I'm not surprised. It is a great dancer and so typical of the period. Miss this song at your peril.

We all know the next pick – Evelyn King's “Out Of Control”. This 1984 smash is actually the “Jonathan Fearing Mix” and very endearing it is too. Still one to get my feet tapping. Lillo Thomas is a legend. Where is he now? “I'm In Love” is the inclusion from 1987's “Lillo” album. This isn't my favourite track of his, but it's still a good'un and does the business on the dancefloor.

A new one on me is Brenda Taylor's moogy stomper “ You Can't Have Your Cake And Eat It Too”. Thank God it's on here as its one had I heard on Solar or elsewhere I would had to have sought out. As dear old Frank Carson says, its a cracker!

With a title like “Kinky Girl” I just had to check out the inclusion by The Creations. Love those 80s keys on there. Very of its day and still good today. From 1984 this release comes from the small Dre-Mar label from Philadelphia. It's a song about a shy and unattractive girl who transforms into a kinky babe! LOL. This is uplifting, happy uptempo soul / dance at its best.

I find some tracks just leaving me colder than a snowman's naughty bits, but there is enough on here to recommend a purchase.
