• Upfront Soul
  The spring 1998 brought us new import soul CD's by Ce Ce Winans, Phyllis Hyman (a posthumous jazz collection), Sister Sledge (partly produced by Jean-Paul Maunick of Incognito) and the tasty Italian soul / jazz-funk group Funky Company. However, our editor's pick of the month - and possibly the whole year 1998 - is Juanita Dailey's absolutely gorgeous debut set Free on the US independent label Woo Records.
