The Spinners Story in Soul Express printed magazines in 2002-2003
The original five printed magazines still available at 20 euros including P&P
By Heikki Suosalo
Michael Walker, the brother of the late great Philippe Wynne of
The Spinners, was introduced in our
Deep Online 2/2006 column. We received an email from Michael stating the following:
"The interview in Deep Magazine has sparked interest and sales in me and
my CD. It is fascinating to see that the public is still so very interested in my
brother Philippe's life and career so many years (22) after his death. I have received
numerous emails seeking more information about my career and my
brother's.
I noticed that you found the record numbers and labels that I mentioned in
my responses. People are keenly interested in all of the records cited in
the interview, and they would like to get copies of them. The public is
really intrigued with the gospel record that the Walker Singers recorded but
never released.
I am sending out notes to all the radio stations that play gospel music alerting them
to your web site and to the interview for a good source of background
information about Philippe and me. One question that I have gotten from
several people has been the spelling of Phil's name. My father was a merchant marine,
and that he named Phil for friends that he met in this early line of work.
He wanted Philippe (which is more like the French spelling) pronounced like the Spanish
Felipe, and Escalante was a Spanish friend.
Again, thanks for your interest and support. I appreciate the wider
audience that you have caused me to reach, and I look forward to corresponding
further with you and keeping you abreast of the developments surrounding Oh, Yes!
Sincerely,
Michael Walker"

We would like to remind everyone who is interested in the career of Philippe
Wynne and the other members of the Spinners that the complete 5-part
story of the Spinners is still available at only 20.00 euros, which is about 25 US dollars
(including the postage!). The story includes an extensive feature on Philippe Wynne in
parts # 3 and # 4.
You can order your copies of the original printed from
our
online CD shop, using Visa or Master credit cards. See on that page the special
offer of "The Spinners Story: 5 Soul Express Magazines", priced 20.00 euros (13.47 GBP).
