• Quality Time

• Archive Material - Reissues
  The acclaimed UK label Expansion continues their classic album series with Leon Ware's Inside Is Love and Lew Kirton's Just Arrived - now retitled Heaven in the Afternoon with three bonus tracks. The Futures released two albums on PIR label in the early 80s: Past, Present & the Futures and The Greetings of Peace. The original albums were priced in a U.K. special soul shop for £ 25 and £ 35 recently, but now they are available on a 2 on 1 CD reissue by Westside!
• DAVID SANBORN Likes No Limits
  An exclusive 4-page interview with the celebrated fusion sax player David Sanborn. David talks about his influences, his collaboration with Marcus Miller, and the pros and cons of being a professional musician.
• TOM BROWNE -Album by Album
  Tom Browne has released 10 albums in 20 years, ranging musically from robust funk to straight jazz and even some inspirational music and electro-inclined disco tracks. Read an album-by-album review of the trumpet hero.
• Deep
  Sterling Harrison is introduced in our Deep session, followed by a string of reviews of the scene including The Spinners, Peggy Scott-Adams, Charles Wilson, Syl Johnson and Bobby Womack. Lots of reissue albums presented as well, including Edsel releases of Oscar Perry, Jackie Wilson, Barbara Acklin and Gloria Edwards, as well as Westside releases by Gwen McCrae and Big Maybelle. The Westside compilation package Breezin' is a luxorious 3-disc set that comprises of Chicago soul and is a tribute to Carl Davis as a producer and writer.
• EARTH, WIND & FIRE - Album by Album, Track by Track
  Sony has recently released classic 70s Earth, Wind & Fire albums in a remastered format with bonus cuts. This gave our editor a good excuse to run a detailed album by album review of the group's 70s material to this issue, to be continued in the next issue with their 80's and 90's releases.
• Jazz-Funk
  The latest sets by Kenny Garrett and Norman Brown are the prime releases of the recent jazz-funk scene. Other worthwhile CD's reviewed this time include Nite Flyte, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley and Incognito.
• Upfront Soul
  The Upfront Soul column again brings our mag up-to-date with the latest US import albums, this time including veteran Wilson Pickett, the long-awaited debut set by the promising new vocal talent Marc Dorsey, as well as the amazingly powerful third CD by Chantay Savage. Terry Dexter, Olu and Grenique represent some fresh talent on the scene, and the second CD by inspirational group Virtue has aroused interest among soul circles as well.
