Other highly recommended new releases this issue include CD's by Michael Bohannon, Darrius, Patti Austin and Alicia Keys, while the latest CD's by Maxwell, Luther Vandross, Phil Perry and Christopher Williams do not quite match their best albums, but receive 7 out of 10 points from our critics. Other albums reviewed in this issue include the latest CD's by Sheree-Monique, Lisa Stansfield, The Isley Brothers, Brian McKnight, Public Announcement and Silk, plus a re-issue album on Soul Brother label by a London-based group F.B.I.

  • Upfront Soul
Our editor takes a brief look at some of the indie soul releases that are only available through special soul sources. Of these, the second CD by Ty Stephens is by far the most impressive and was featured as our album of the month on our website in October. The veteran funksters Michael Cooper (lead singer of Con Funk Shun) and Dazz Band are back with their brand new CD releases, reviewed also in this column.
